Become popular thanks to the TV series "Sex and the city", it is recognized today as the most glamorous cocktail.
The timeless king of Campari cocktails. Created in Florence by Count Negroni between 1919 and 1920, it still remains one of the most popular classic Italian aperitifs today. It became popular also thanks to Ian Flaming who mentions the cocktail in one of the novels of the James Bond saga.
OLD FASHIONED (1)
The origins of this drink go back so far in time that it is difficult to believe who is credited with the authorship. It was originally called Whiskey Cocktail, as it expressed the classic formula established in 1806: distillate, sugar, water and bitters.
The warmth of Bulleit whiskey and the sweetness of Cocchi Vermouth create a perfect aperitif. Created at the “Manhattan Club” in NY and then soon became very popular in Europe too, probably helped by its name which represents a perfect synthesis of the Big Apple enclosed in a glass.
A 1928 quote reads: "Gin, a hint of lemon and soda". The 1953 description in Raymond Chandler's novel "The Long Goodbye" stated that "a true Gimlet is half Gin and half lime juice and nothing else"; just as the “Savoy Cocktail Book” of 1930 suggests.
